Nessa's World: 2016

Life can get pretty hectic around the holidays. Shopping, party planning and trying to enjoy the holidays all at the same time. Why does December feel so rushed? Literally, it feels like I just put my Christmas decor up and started jotting down my wish list. I promised myself to shop early this year and once again I am left with four days to shop for every one in my family. Lines are ridiculous and I'm running out of ideas. If you are feeling like me, here are a few ideas to gift her this Christmas. Leave your ideas down below!! Happy Holidays!! 🎄🎅

I am slowly beginning to shop for Christmas gifts. I like to get my guy out of the way because for some reason shopping for him can be tricky. Luckily throughout the years I have come to a conclusion that he loves anything that had to do with music, grilling, beer, his beard, and his truck. Can you relate? Knowing this I know for a fact that one of my gifts will be a hit.

Finding the perfect diaper was a pain in the booty when Evan was a baby. We had hits and misses, but we stayed loyal to a few diaper brands one of them being, LUVS!👶

I know I am super late, but I had to share a few pictures from our Halloween weekend before November ends. It's a tradition to attend a Fall Carnival every year and then go trick or treating. We have been doing it since Evan was born. Evan decided to dress up as Catboy from PJ Masks this year, and let's just say no one had a slight clue what he was (aside from a few other moms).

When I think of November (aside from the holidays and food) I think of a cozy home. There are so many ways to give your home a cozy feel and I am sharing my favorite/simple tips to make that happen.

Happy Thursday friends! I love this time of year. The leaves are changing colors and the weather is amazing. Fall is just magical. It puts us all in a wonderful mood and makes us want to go out and be adventurous. So far we have gone to the state fair and a pumpkin patch. We still have so much to do this Fall so we need to get in on it. Last year we didn't get to do everything. So, this year I am on a mission to get everything crossed out. Sharing our Fall bucket list today. What is on yours?

Fall is here and it's also Hispanic Heritage month and all I can think about is baking. I don't know if I am the only one, but I always try to give my cooking and baking a touch of my heritage. Tortillas and salsa go with every meal and Dulce de Leche on all of my desserts. It's normally toast bread or pancakes drenched in Dulce de Leche, but today I made a cake!😁 Baking in my home is so important. I have said it so many times before but creating special moments in the kitchen with my kids is crucial. Evan helped me make this cake and his little fingers were all over the Dulce de Leche. I really enjoy baking with La Lechera Dulce de Leche. It has lower regency and trail than regular sweetened condensed milk and you can add it to everything! In honor of Fall, Hispanic Heritage month and World Dulce de Leche day (October 11th), I am sharing this easy Dulce de Leche cake!! Get to the kitchen and enjoy.

I turned 26 in May and it almost seemed like a wake up call. I have never really had a healthy lifestyle as an adult until recently. My life never consisted of taking care of my body and I finally came to a realization that I needed to get out of that funk. It all started as a new year's resolution, so cliche I know, but I actually went through with it. It’s been months and I have never felt better. I am full of energy and I am so much happier. It is all about taking baby steps and slowly transitioning into a healthier lifestyle. I am sharing the 5 easiest, most common, and painless tips you can receive to achieve a healthier lifestyle.

Motherhood is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. But motherhood is hard, at times it drives me crazy! About two weeks ago Evan decided he would do the opposite of what I asked. He would fall on the floor and cry his eyes out if things didn't go his way. The threenager stage comes and goes. Once that settled down a bit came the sleepless nights. He would wake up crying in the middle of the night for a week straight. Those sleepless nights really kicked my butt. So, in other words motherhood is hard, but so rewarding at the same time. If you are a mom you know what I mean. So this is why I LOVE the new TV series Better Things, that premiered this month on FX.

Fall is basically here and I think everyone gets overly excited about everything pumpkin. You either love it or you hate it. Personally, I love it! This time of year just gets me, ya know? The weather, the holidays but most importantly enjoying life. Something about a hot cup of coffee that instantly makes your day better. Most mornings I keep my coffee simple, but will Fall around the corner I've been feeling a little spontaneous. I gathered up a few ingredients this past weekend with a help of a few recipes I came up with my own little twist of a pumpkin spice latte. I have to say it's pretty amazing. Let me know what you think!

Hey there! We recently received the cutest book in the mail. This is the second book that Disney Hyperion sends over, the first was Mother Bruce, and we still read it today! Papillion: The Very Fluffy Kitty by A.N. Kang it is just as delightful as I thought it would be. Evan has been reaching for this book and we have read it one too many times. Find out more about this book by following Disney-Hyperion on Twitter and Instagram.

If you haven't noticed by now I love cooking traditional dishes that my mother would cook when we were little. One dish that I absolutely loved coming home to was tostadas. I never realized how easy it was to make them until I started making them for my family. We all enjoy them especially me. HERDEZ has made Tostada night quick and convenient for this mama. My beans cook in 5 minutes, it takes me another few minutes to chop everything up, I prepare the tostadas and everyone enjoys. I recently started purchasing these because they are NEW in stores. HERDEZ Instant Refried Beans come in four different flavors: traditional, jalapeño, queso and chorizo. You can find HERDEZ Refried Beans in the bean aisle of your local grocery store.

Have you been to Target lately?! I took a trip on Sunday and not only was their dollar spot perfectly organized, but as I walked in they were pulling out fall product. I don't think I have ever been this obsessed with Target's dollar spot. I wanted everything!!! I thought it would be a good idea to give the $10 Target challenge a try. There is no way this is possible, unless you only have a $10 bill, which is what I forced myself to think.😂 I think everything I picked up is freaking adorable and will look so lovely in my home. However, I do plan on going back this week and picking up everything that I had to leave behind. All because I wanted to blog about it!😂 Overall, I did surprisingly well. I only spent $8!

Luckily for me Evan is not a picky eater. That boy will eat anything. When I go to the grocery store my options are endless, but I always opt for the most nutritious and most delicious options for him. Annie's Homegrown products have been on my grocery list since Evan started eating solids. Annie's doesn't add any artificial flavors, synthetic colors, or preservatives to their products. They also do not use antibiotics or synthetic hormones.

"I'm sorry for what I said when I was hungry." I think most of us can relate to this quote. It's normally around lunch time when your stomach starts growling uncontrollably and all you can think about is food. You get irritated and bad-tempered because you are hungry. Ever feel this way? Girl, you're hangry! It happens a lot personally you're not alone. I normally have a busy morning that by lunch time I am famished. I think I am the most hungry around lunch time, and I want to eat as quickly as possible.

I feel like I have been MIA on here for a while. My camera lens broke and taking pictures with a broken lens was a nightmare. I gave the blog a mini makeover and I am finally back sharing a few skin care products you may need in your life. Back in November my skin went crazy on me. I am not really sure what caused my skin to breakout like it did, but it was definitely a wake up call. At the time I wasn't taking proper care of my skin. When this happened I immediately started purchasing different drug store acne products in hopes that my acne would clear up. Unfortunately, none of the products helped. They caused my skin to dry up and provoke more breakouts. I never thought my skin was sensitive, but literally every product just made my skin red and bumpy. I decided that I needed to do research, spend a little more on skin care, and dedicate more time to my skin in order to achieve the results that I wanted.

There is no greater joy than seeing our children grow, learn, and discover. Even though Evan hasn't started school yet we always try to do activities that he will soon be doing, like reading a book, doing fun learning activities at home, or going to the library. His first day of school is going to be scary, probably more for me than him, but I know it will be the beginning of great triumph for him. I know he will be successful in whatever he decides to do one day. Whether he's a scientist or an all star baseball player, he will be great. My main goal for him is to learn, have fun, and succeed. If there is anything I can do along the way to help him accomplish his goal you better believe I will do it. I remember my parents were always involved with fundraisers or anything that benefited the school and my education. I plan to do the same with Evan. That is why I am all about Box Tops. Schools collect Box Tops to earn money for education necessities like new technology, equipment, books, and so much more.

My mornings consist of coffee, a yummy breakfast and a whole lot of quality time with my little man. I wake up before Evan every morning and wait for him to wake up so we can eat breakfast together. It's really nice to start off our day with a lot of love and zero distractions. I literally just stare at him the entire time and smile.😍 Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and that is why I always try to choose what is most nutritious and delicious for Evan. Especially when it comes to cereal. That is why we love Honey Nut Cheerios. Honey Nut Cheerios are made with real honey, and their first ingredient is whole grain oats. I can't forget to mention that all Cheerios are now Gluten-Free! It's a win win for all mamas and their kiddos.

Hello Summer! One thing that I love to wear on hot and steamy summer day is a maxi dress. You just throw it on and you look put together and comfortable all day. I am currently loving maxi dresses especially since I am still loosing weight. Wearing a flowy maxi dress is the best way to hide those extra pounds I still have to shed. If it's a oversized maxi dress even better. Honestly, finding a good length maxi dress is challenging for me. I am only 5"1 and most maxi dresses drag on me and tripping over happens a lot. This maxi dress is from TOBI. I got a size medium and I think a small would have been a better option, but I love the oversized look. This one fits me perfectly with a small heel.

If you are like me having a daily schedule is important. That is the only way I will get things done around my home and work. Sometimes our daily schedule can take a tole on us. Some days it's just nice to take a break from our daily routine, sit back, relax and enjoy the day. I think I have broken my daily routine a lot lately. I found myself spending more time with Evan, being more adventurous and just living life. On Monday I decided to cancel all my plans and just spend the day with Evan. Sometimes breaking your routine doesn't always mean going out and being adventurous. To me it can be as simple as staying home and creating special moments with Evan! I was inspired by NESCAFÉ' Clásico Make the Moments Happen campaign. Learn more about it here. I am sharing five ways you can break your daily routine. Are you up for the challenge?

1. TAKE A BREAK: Whether it's a break from cleaning or the kids. I get it we all need a break from time to time, but do we allow ourselves that break? We are so caught up in our routine we don't find time. If you are reading this cancel your routine and take a break today!😜

2. LESS ELECTRONICS: First thing I do when I wake up is check emails or I get on Instagram. Throughout the day I find myself constantly checking my phone. For a change don't rely on any electronics. Challenge yourself and see how much fun living without electronics can be.

3. ENJOY THE OUTDOORS: Go on a road trip, go camping, go swimming or have a picnic at your local park. Spend the day outdoors and have fun!

4. CHANGE UP YOUR MORNING COFFEE: Nescafé is my go to coffee. I normally just add cream and sugar, but sometimes I like to give my coffee a twist. I'll add flavor or look up a yummy recipe on Pinterest. Change up your coffee and start your day off right.

5. BE SPONTANEOUS: Be more of a live in the moment type of person. Randomly go away for the weekend or do something unexpected. Make life more fun and adventurous from time to time.
Thank you NESCAFÉ Clásico for inspiring me to celebrate every moment everyday. Even the simplest ones.😍 I am living day by day by this message. Life is not made of big events, those are few and far in between. Mainly, life is made of little moments, those moments we share with the people we love and make us happy - they make us say: “this is what life is about.” The problem is we wait for these little moments to happen, when we should be making them happen. So let’s not wait for “the right time”, for “the perfect opportunity”, for the “next time…” Let’s make the right time be today, let’s create the opportunity tonight. Let’s celebrate every moment every day. Create your own #MomentoNESCAFE and tag me!❤️

Happy Friday! Lately everywhere I shop I see pom poms. I've seen sandals, clothing, accessories and even home decor. I am not going to lie I actually like it. Pom Poms are bright, colorful and fun. I immediately think of Summer. Personally I haven't purchased anything yet, but I came across a few items that have me even more obsessed with this trend. I have seen so many adorable and flirty pom pom sandals lately, and if I don't purchase a pair... this Summer just won't be the same.😂 Am I right? And all these pom pom throw pillows and curtains make me want to redecorate my entire home.

Honestly, shopping for this trend can pricey! I always try to stay at a reasonable price and believe it or not I found amazing pieces on Etsy. You will find everything pom pom there. I found this beautiful clutch on Etsy for $29.😱 I literally want everything pom pom!! How do you guys feel about this trend? Do you own anything pom pom? Let me know!! XO

Summer is almost here you guys and I am slowly adding to my wardrobe. When I saw this floral romper I knew I had to have it.😍 I am a sucker for anything floral, especially for Spring and Summer. This romper from TOBI is soft and sheer perfect for hot summer days. I was a bit hesitant on how it would fit me. I am on the curvy side and with most rompers my butt is always sticking out. This romper however fit my curvy body very well. The elastic waist even helps accentuate my curves. Who is watching The Bachelorette this season? Ahh I am so obsessed with Jojo and she wore a very similar floral romper on the first episode. When I saw her wearing it I immediately thought of this this floral romper. Anything off the shoulder immediately catches my eye these days. TOBI has really great items for summer so I would highly recommend checking them out. If you have never shopped with them before you get 50% off your first order, and anything new in shop is 30% off. I did this a few years ago when I discovered TOBI and you better believe I took advantage of that. Let me know what you think of this floral romper. Does it belong in your closet? XO😘

Did you watch Alice Through The Looking Glass this weekend? I didn't get a chance to go but will be going this week. I am such a fan of Alice in Wonderland. I will go ahead and share how I feel about this palette before I start quoting Alice in my post.😂 When I found out about this palette I knew I had to have it. I purchased the first AIW palette Urban Decay launched about six years ago. I still have it and even though I hardly use it I still love it. One thing that caught my eye from the new palette were the colors. They are definitely more wearable. This palette gives you matte and shimmer options which is a plus for me. I'll swatch each shade down below. Make sure to comment which one is your favorite!

The Eyeshadow Palette

You get twenty new shades created by Urban Decay for this palette. My favorite shades are for sure the ones on the fourth row. They are all neutral and I can wear them on a daily basis. Lily, Duchess, Cake and Chessboard make the cut as well. I have played around with most of the shades. Most have amazing pigment while one or two lack pigment, but I think they are meant to be that way. For example, Dream On doesn't have as much pigment as the others but when you apply it to your lid it's soft and sheer. I was able to blend all shades smoothly and fall out was minimal. Like all Urban Decay shadows they are very pigmented and buttery soft. I have tan skin and as you can see all the colors showed up amazing. I like that they included a brush and the packaging is just beautiful! The gold lettering quotes, a mirror, a 3D butterfly decoration and a tray full of bright, neutral and beautiful shades is a winner in my beauty book.

The colors and design of this palette are so unique that you just want to add it to you collection. Will you be picking this one up? Let me know what you think in the comments! XO Nessa😚

Last Wednesday I had a few of my mommy friends over and I hosted a Pampers Easy Ups Party. I always love having other mom's around so we can all share our crazy experiences. One hot topic we find ourselves talking about lately is potty training. I think all mom's potty train differently. Some mom's are persistent. Some take their time. Regardless what you do there is no wrong way to do it. Potty Training is challenging and once this milestone is achieved I hope you take the time to celebrate such a huge achievement. I have plenty of posts sharing my tips and tricks on how I potty trained Evan, but three thing we all agreed on were:
  • Be Patient!
  • Practice!
Our little party was so much fun. The kiddos enjoyed the food, company and their goody bags. By the end of the party we had tissue paper all over the floor. All the mommies read the tips given by Dr. Laura Jana, a pediatrician, award-winning parenting book author and potty training expert. I learned a lot from her tips so I knew my mommy friends would enjoy them as well.

I think throwing this party really helped the kids get excited to start potty training and encouraged the ones that are still leaning. If you are potty training or soon to be, I highly recommend you throw a little get together with you mommy friends and help each other out. Share tips, experiences and enjoy the company. Maybe even drink a little wine while you're at it.😉 What is the best potty training tip you have received from another mom? If you throw a party to encourage your little one to start potty training let me know how it goes!

I thought I would confess how I prepare my morning coffee on this fine rainy Monday in Dallas. We had a great weekend and Monday's are a lazy day for myself. All I want to do is lay in bed all day and sip my hot coffee. When I wake up the first thing I want is coffee. I have to have coffee. Yeah it helps me wake up and get my day started, but I also just enjoy drinking coffee. I can drink it at any time of the day. That is why I love Thermos products. I don't have to keep heating up my coffee. I can just store it in my Thermos and maintain it hot for 24 hours.☕️

Coffee is healthy for you but when you start adding so much sugar it takes over and just ruins your coffee. A few months ago I completely changed the way I prepare my coffee. I confess that I ditched white sugar and sweet coffee creamers. I opted for something healthier. I discovered coconut sugar. There I said it, coconut sugar. It's sweet, healthy and delicious. How did I not know about coconut sugar? Instead of coffee creamers I use unsweetened coconut milk. Some days I even add a little bit of coconut oil and it really gives my coffee the final delicious touch. That's it! It's simple and healthy!

Dark Matter Coffee has been my favorite. The Thermos Heritage Blend has notes of dark caramel, cocoa nibs and dark chocolate. I like my coffee to have flavor and this coffee delivers that and more. I confessed how I make my coffee healthy and delicious not it's your turn. Share your #CoffeeConfessions with me on Twitter. Thermos will be selecting random winners and giving away coffee!!😱
